Drink more tea! It’s the most popular beverage in the world. Today, I'd like to offer an eco-friendly tea drinking tip. Did you know that many teabags contain non-biodegradable plastic, which may release microplastics when brewed? This plastic, typically polypropylene, is used to seal the bags, but it can't be recycled or composted. Consider choosing teabags made from natural materials like abaca, wood pulp, and plant cellulose, sealed with organic cotton. These bags are home compostable, and their packaging is recyclable. Another eco-friendly option is loose leaf tea, which eliminates plastic sealants and reduces overall packaging waste. Plus, loose leaf tea tends to be less processed, retaining more flavor.
