Echoes of Past Lives in Children

Research shows that thousands of children from around the world remember their previous lives. Some children, as young as 2 to 6 years old, start talking about having a different mom and dad. Others remember being grown-ups and driving specific cars or airplanes. Some even know languages or skills they’ve never learned or speak of names or places they could not possibly know. These aren’t just wild imaginations. They are experiences that are carried over from one life to another and beyond our knowledge of life and death.

Ahna was nine when she started talking about an ancient place and the earthquake. “She described caves, she described a desert-like environment, simple homes, life events, times of transition, living in caves with community members. There was a whole set of experiences and emotions that came with it. One day, Ahna told me about a traumatic event that happened involving an earthquake in her village.” When Ahna drew the map of an island in her past life and wrote down the ancient language, her parents knew it was time for serious research. “Researchers had said it was a port city and that a big earthquake led to it being underwater. And Heracleion was on an odd-shaped island.”

Jamey got night terrors at four. One time, he accidentally watched part of the Titanic film; he started drawing intensely, producing 50 detailed pictures of the ship in two weeks. When Jamey’s parents realized a possible past life experience, they started intensive historical research. They were able to identify him as having been Thomas Andrews, the chief designer of the Titanic. Unaware that the ship's steel was flawed, Andrews was in disbelief as the Titanic sank and stayed with the ship till the very end. Recognizing this connection, Jamey finally found closure and moved on with a newfound passion for design.

Ever wondered who are making the plans and selecting the parents between the past and present lives? Regardless, their souls are neither confined by their past lives nor their present ones. Our Most Benevolent Supreme Master Ching Hai (vegan) has spoken about it: “The soul never reincarnates. If we know the soul, if we are enlightened, if we know the connection with the whole universe, we are not reincarnated anywhere, we are always right there. We are never born, and never die.”
