In Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association Relief News from Âu Lạc (Vietnam)…

On September 7, 2024, Typhoon Yagi made landfall in the northern provinces of Âu Lạc (Vietnam) with destructive winds that devastated the region. Trees were uprooted, rooftops torn away, and electrical infrastructure scattered across roadways. After the storm passed, subsequent heavy rainfall triggered flooding and landslides in mountainous and lowland provinces of the northern region.

Responding to this urgent situation, our Association members in Âu Lạc (Vietnam) and abroad contributed a total of US$100,000 for essential materials and financial support to help those most affected in the provinces of Cao Bằng, Hà Giang, Lào Cai, and Yên Bái. Our Association’s relief team braved treacherous conditions, including muddy floodwaters and slippery slopes, to deliver aid to those in need. In Cao Bằng Province, they distributed 1,000 packages of supplies, including noodles, rice, vegan dry foods, blankets, clothing, cooking oil, salt, sugar, vegan seasoning, vegan sauces, rice cakes, and other necessities to displaced communities. Similarly, in Lào Cai Province, more than 1,000 bags containing rice, salt, blankets, mosquito nets, vegan dried food, cooking oil, and other essentials were provided to residents of affected villages.

Local governments in the areas where our Association members visited expressed their gratitude through heartfelt thank-you letters for the generous support provided to families affected by Typhoon Yagi. The aid has not only provided essential supplies but also uplifted the spirits of residents facing tough times, bringing hope and comfort in the aftermath of the disaster. We thank our Association members who generously contributed and delivered much-needed assistance to those affected, thus following our Beloved Master’s footsteps and applying Her teachings to help others in their time of need. We are also grateful to our Most Compassionate Supreme Master Ching Hai (vegan) for being a shining example and inspiration, showing us how to be better citizens and care for our fellow beings. May the wise citizens of Âu Lạc (Vietnam) continue to cultivate virtue and mindfulness, embracing a compassionate vegan lifestyle that promotes collective well-being and helps mitigate future disasters and challenges through positive living and ethical choices, in Buddha’s everlasting Grace.
