In recent months, there have been several outbreaks of salmonella. Although symptoms vary, salmonella infections can be fatal. Such was the case in Canada in late 2023. In this salmonella outbreak, 190 people were infected, 68 were hospitalized, and nine people died. In early 2024, salmonella again broke out across the US. The CDC is expanding its warning about the risk of salmonella in charcuterie meat. “E. coli 0157 produces a toxin that can actually affect their kidneys and it can cause their kidneys to fail and they can get very sick.” Meanwhile, in Alberta, Canada, a tragic outbreak of E. coli occurred at several daycare centers. Over the next few days, hundreds of people became infected, most under the age of five.

Another recently occurring zoonotic disease is listeriosis. Like salmonella and E. coli, listeria bacteria are found in animal-people feces. In early 2024, the US experienced a frightening listeria outbreak caused by animal-people dairy products. Shortly after this warning, an outbreak occurred in Australia, with several health facilities reporting cases of listeria. Listeria comes from eating contaminated foods, including processed meats and soft cheeses. Listeriosis is especially dangerous for pregnant women as it can lead to miscarriage, stillbirth, premature delivery, or the death of the baby.

Our Most Gracious Supreme Master Ching Hai (vegan) frequently reminds us that raising animal-people livestock causes most of the world’s problems, including diseases and pandemics. “The animal-people meat industry is responsible for all of this. So we have to stop the root cause of all this trouble. Not by vaccine, but by virtue, by Heavenly quality, which is inherent inside of us anyhow. We just take it out and use it. We are human, children of God. A child of God doesn't go around killing, murdering other defenseless creatures, doesn’t go around destroying the planet and the world just for the sake of having a piece of animal-people meat, which can be replaced.”
