We would like to take this opportunity to thank our honored guests for being a shining example of human compassion for the world. Thank you. To better understand the compassionate ways of the Philippine government, please enjoy the following short documentary expressing how graciously and lovingly they helped thousands of Âu Lạc (Vietnam) refugees.

Mr. Manuel L. Morato, a prominent Philippine entrepreneur, was deeply moved by the Aulacese (Vietnamese) refugees’ situation. Having just met Supreme Master Ching Hai and sympathizing with the desperation of the refugees, he took the initiative to appeal to the Ambassador of Foreign Affairs on their behalf. Mr. Morato wrote in his touching letter, dated the 27th of June 1994: “I am sincerely hoping for your kind assistance, Mr. Ambassador, for I cannot accept in conscience how those in charge can possibly deny them the right to help and assist the Vietnamese refugees in Palawan. It is almost inhuman to deprive the members of Her group the right to visit and help the refugees who have suffered so much, and continue to suffer physically and emotionally.”

Mr. Morato personally accompanied Supreme Master Ching Hai to help in this noble cause. He sacrificed his valuable time, often at great inconvenience and at all hours of the day. By introducing Supreme Master Ching Hai to both government and private officials, Mr. Morato provided pivotal help in the quest to alleviate the suffering of the refugees.

During the early 1990s, many Philippine government officials – including former presidents (His Excellency) Fidel V. Ramos and (Her Excellency) Corazon Aquino – and Madame Marcos and the media were by Supreme Master Ching Hai’s side to assist Her in this humanitarian cause.

There were countless other compassionate hearts that remained anonymous, including the Catholic nuns and Philippine citizens, whose hearts overflowed with love. All had embraced and welcomed the Aulacese (Vietnamese) refugees like one of their own. Today, as a result of their nurturing love, millions of Aulacese (Vietnamese) have spread their wings and soared to the distant skies, adding beauty to the world.

We also wish to take this opportunity to praise and thank Dr. Rene Santos and family, especially Dr. Santos, who took Master to different television and radio stations, sometimes into the wee hours of the morning, so that She could have the chance through their broadcasting network nationwide to plead for the Aulacese (Vietnamese) refugees’ plight.
