Shree Tattvarthadhigam Sutra, composed by Shree Umasvati around 1st or 2nd century A.D. has the essence of the philosophy embodied in the Jain Agam. This unique composition in Sanskrit is in the form of short concise aphorisms divided in ten chapters. It offers practical and ethical tools for living a restrained, and tolerant, non-violent life. In essence of Jainism, Samyag Gyan, Samyag Darshan and Samyag Charitra. The main 5 principles of Jainism are: 1.Ahimsha- which is Non-violence, 2.Satya- which is Truth, 3.Achaurya- which is Non-stealing, 4.Bhrahamcharya- which is Celibacy, and 5.Aparigraha- which is Non-possesiveness.
