I have a health tip for you, especially for those living a vegan lifestyle. Getting a sufficient level of vitamin B12 is important, because it assists the body in maintaining healthy nerve cells and the production of DNA. Health professionals recommend 50 micrograms of vitamin B12 a day. There are six signs of vitamin B12 deficiency you should look out for: decreased energy, extreme tiredness, muscle weakness, pins and needles, depression, and cognitive problems like impaired memory, understanding, and judgement. Vitamin B12 is produced by bacteria in healthy soil; however, since food is so purified and refined now, most people need to get their daily intake from fortified foods or supplements. Therefore, people should consider a supplement to ensure they have an adequate B12 intake. B12-fortified foods such as plant-based milks, nutritional yeast flakes, along with vegan yogurts and desserts, are sold in stores, so it would be great to choose those versions when you can.
