“(…Master, in the form of He Xiangu, used the flower branch to sprinkle nectar over the whole area, and then poured a basket of flowers into the Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village. As those flowers drifted down to touch the ground, there appeared golden Light which then submerged into the soil to bless the land.…)”

Just as the vegan Great Master Lao Tzu expounded, He reincarnates onto the Earth to offer assistance and upliftment. “Lao Tzu says: I roam to purify, I work to enlighten and I govern to complete. I transform and change my body and appearance, renew life by means of death, and roam over the world…”

Along with Taoist Masters Lao Tzu and Master Zhang Daoling (vegan), Taoist Master Guiguzi (breatharian) is another of Supreme Master Ching Hai (vegan)’s previous incarnations.

With the given birth name Wang Xu, Guiguzi was believed to live in the 4th century BC as a statesman, diplomat, educator, and prophet. Traditionally regarded as the founder of the School of Diplomacy. Master Guiguzi taught the famous Warring States persuaders Su-Qin and Zhang-Yi, and also taught the strategists Sun-Bin and Pang-Juan. His School of Diplomacy taught a form of rhetoric that combined powerful logic with comprehensive knowledge. Such an elevated speaking style is typically seen in courts of law and houses of parliament, as it requires a quick intellect, excellent knowledge, and eloquent speech. Master Guiguzi’s teachings were recorded in the book “Guiguzi,” which was later integrated into the Taoist Canon.

In an inner vision, one of our Chinese Association members remembered her and her family’s past affinity with Master Guiguzi.

“(In 2017, while in samadhi, I saw the life of Master Guiguzi [breatharian], a legendary figure in the Warring States period of ancient China. I also realized that He was one of the previous incarnations of Supreme Master Ching Hai [vegan].

I saw a huge cave halfway up a very spiritual mountain in China, and Master Guiguzi was living a very simple life in that cave. He was fundamentally a breatharian, consuming only a little bit of wild fruit and herbs occasionally. Miraculously, I saw that He was flying around in the mountains in His physical body. His appearance was that of an immortal hermit out of this world. He never went down to the cities, yet the king, lords and high officials of that time often climbed up the mountain to visit Him, seeking direction and advice for their chaotic world.

In my inner vision, I observed that He was well-versed in politics, diplomacy, Yin-Yang theories, and spiritual practice. He was a well-known enlightened Master, yet rarely accepted any disciples. He would test the Truth seekers with very harsh trials.

One of His disciples, Zhang Yi, was a famous politician in the Warring States period. Because Zhang Yi concentrated on spiritual practice, the Qin dynasty that he’d helped govern after coming down the mountain flourished, and later became a strong nation in the era. People only regarded Zhang Yi as a plausible person, but the truth was, he was a very wise and capable man. He set a very firm foundation for the State of Qin to strengthen and prosper, as well as to unify the six states for Emperor Qin Shi Huang. That was a very meticulous plan of God. We can say that Zhang Yi was a trailblazer sent by God to unify China.

One time, during meditation, I had a vision that my kin brother, master Sen-Teng, was the reincarnation of Zhang Yi, a disciple of Master Guiguzi. However, he didn’t have the same vision, so he didn’t believe me.

Master Sen-Teng was originally a renunciate who practiced his own method and didn’t want to follow Supreme Master Ching Hai. However, in 2018, he was stricken by an acute illness that almost killed him. While he was unconscious, his soul left his body and followed me to see his former Master, Guiguzi. Then he discovered that Master Guiguzi is Supreme Master Ching Hai, and he himself had been Zhang Yi!

When he woke up, he said, ‘Sister, I have decided to get the initiation! Supreme Master Ching Hai was my Master Guiguzi, in my previous life.’

Immediately after being discharged from the hospital, he rushed to Taiwan [Formosa] to receive initiation, and thus continued his affinity with Master Guiguzi by becoming a disciple of Supreme Master Ching Hai. At present, he is still living as a monk in the temple and resolutely practicing the Quan Yin Method as imparted by Master.

My younger brother has reached a higher spiritual level than that of Zhang Yi in his previous life. He has often assisted Supreme Master Ching Hai in defeating demons in the invisible world, fighting hardily with the negative force for peace in the Universe. I feel very happy for him!)”

Just as Great Master Lao Tzu said, “I roam to purify, I work to enlighten…”, this noble mission has been continued in various reincarnations. In addition to reincarnating as Supreme Master Ching Hai, another of His incarnations appears to be that of He Xiangu (vegan) who was given the birth name of He Qiong. He Qiong is a Chinese mythological figure and one of the Eight Immortals in the Taoist pantheon. She is often seen as the only female among the Eight Immortals and depicted as an extraordinary beauty holding a lotus flower, and sometimes with the musical instrument known as sheng, or a fenghuang to accompany her.

According to legends, He Xiangu is the daughter of the He family. When she was thirteen years old, she went to the mountains to pick tea, and met an immortal who accepted Her as his disciple and gave Her fairy peach and mica powder to eat. She ate them and became an immortal.

In various legends, He Xiangu has the triple identity of a fairy, Taoist nun and a Seer. In the inscription of He Xiangu's temple, it is recorded that Liu Jiwen, the governor of Guangdong and Guangxi during the Wanli period, asked He Xiangu for a sign when he was going to pacify the chaos, and received the following prophecy: “It is a good plan to use troops to go forward bravely. If you fear the enemy to just keep life safe, you will not be able to make a plan. If generals and ministers cooperate with each other and work together, you won’t worry that mountain bandits couldn’t be eliminated?” Liu Jiwen acted accordingly, defeated the bandits and pacified the chaos.

Our Association member shared an inner experience of observing that Supreme Master Ching Hai is the reincarnation of He Xiangu.

“(We made a trip to the Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village in Nantou county, Taiwan [Formosa] to enjoy the cherry blossoms. When we were meditating there, a spherical mass of very strong energy exploded from where we were. The exploded energy covered the entire Taiwan [Formosa], and the launch point was where we meditated at the Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village. I thought it was Master taking the chance that we were there to bless Taiwan [Formosa].

Then I saw Master turned into He Xiangu [vegan], holding something that looked like a Ruyi [scepter] or a flower branch, lightly and gracefully descending from the sky. Master, in the form of He Xiangu, used the flower branch to sprinkle nectar over the whole area, and then poured a basket of flowers into the Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village. As those flowers drifted down to touch the ground, there appeared golden Light which then submerged into the soil to bless the land.

Then, the beautiful He Xiangu boarded the boat of the Eight Immortals, waved to everyone, and flew toward a high place together with the other seven Immortals, sprinkling rose red petals into the air along the way, which turned the Formosan Aboriginal Cultural Village into a fairy like land. People who bathed in the sea of beautiful, blooming cherry blossoms also enjoyed Master’s Blessings at the same time.

The noble, dignified, and benevolent Master always appears in different forms, which people could never imagine, in the mortal world according to situations, and then left quietly and gracefully, leaving infinite inspirations to sentient beings.

At this instance, there revealed in my inner soul a verse from the Diamond Sutra: ‘Like a dream, an illusion; like a tiny drop of dew, or a flash of lightning. This is how we should contemplate our conditioned existence.’ At that moment, I could only comprehend it in my heart, and could not find proper words to express...)”

We see that in each of Supreme Master Ching Hai’s incarnations as notable Taoist figures, there is sage wisdom and service yielded to others. It is as the Tao Te Ching explicates, “Therefore Sages: Often save others and so do not abandon anyone They often save things and so do not abandon anything This is called following enlightenment.”
