John Pierre is a world-renowned nutrition and fitness consultant. In an entertaining and engaging way, he teaches mental and physical fitness through the vegan diet and exercise. “So, I focus a lot on getting people to walk as much as they can. So, the secret is to sneak movement in your life. You don’t necessarily have to go to a gym to get movement and to be healthy.”

In addition to the elderly, John has taught fitness and vegan nutrition to thousands of people, including rock stars, celebrities, and Fortune 500 CEOs. In the book, John states that one of the “pillars of health” is being kind, especially with our words. “It’s an energy that you create a vision board, pictures that are positive, words that are positive. And that helps you constantly stay in that frame of mind. And same thing, just think about, you’re on your computer all day, and you always are punching in your password. What if you punched in your password ‘Be loving and be kind?’”

Our most gracious Supreme Master Ching Hai (vegan) has also frequently reminded us to keep our minds, speech and actions positive. “So be careful about what you think, what you say, OK? Or what you write to people because everything knows everything. We are not just covered in this flesh body; we are a transparent soul. Capiche that? Your mind is connected with all beings in the whole Universe, so don't think [that] nobody knows what you’re doing. Learn to have respect.”

“I started in Chicago working and volunteering at the women and children’s shelters” Working in the shelters inspired John to write “Strong, Savvy, Safe,” a women’s guide to safety and self-defense. “And so, it’s important that women become as strong and fit as they can. A good portion of the book is about emotional safety and self-defense.”
